Just Writing About “Kick” By INXS…

I like music a lot and listen to it all day. So sporadically, over the next several days, I’m going to be writing about the twelve albums I’m listening to the most lately. They’re not in any certain order because I don’t think you can judge music that way. This is the just how I wrote them down. Actually, they’re probably in alphabetical order by artist name, since I simply parsed my Rhapsody library to find them.

And, for the record, I’m by no means under the delusion that I’m a music critic or expert. All I intend to do is communicate why I like them while trying not to judge them esthetically. The fourth album is “Kick” by INXS…

Yeah, this is an old one, but lately I keep coming back to it. My favorite songwriter and performer is Rob Thomas from Matchbox Twenty and I saw a live video of the band doing “Never Tear Us Apart” and realized for the first time how great that song is.

“Kick” by INXS is a special album, too. Almost every song is good with great lyrics and memorable guitar riffs. I wouldn’t call it real musicianship, because the songs are more loop-based, but that’s the defacto standard these days so it makes the album feel timeless. Anyone who loves music should listen to this album. I doubt if it really changed anything, but it’s an important one for sure.
