Just Writing About “Born This Way” By Lady GaGa…

I like music a lot and listen to it all day. So sporadically, over the next several days, I’m going to be writing about the twelve albums I’m listening to the most lately. They’re not in any certain order because I don’t think you can judge music that way. This is the just how I wrote them down. Actually, they’re probably in alphabetical order by artist name, since I simply parsed my Rhapsody library to find them.

And, for the record, I’m by no means under the delusion that I’m a music critic or expert. All I intend to do is communicate why I like them while trying not to judge them esthetically. The fifth album is “Born This Way” by Lady GaGa…

I’m not a lover of dance music but I love everything about Lady GaGa, who really transcends her genre — to put it very mildly. I don’t know if you can call such a huge hit album underrated but “Born This Way” can’t be rated high enough. The critics wanted more alternative pop songs like “Poker Face” and “Bad Romance” and what they got were unapologetic, inspirational epics like “Hair” and “Edge Of Glory” — because Lady GaGa is out of the media’s control.

But technically and creatively speaking, every song on this album is perfect. Each one has about five different melodies to keep you engaged. If she hadn’t spoiled everyone with her first album, we almost wouldn’t believe this one was possible. It’s extremely inspired and almost wasteful. I know a lot of artists who’ll never write this many interesting melodies in their entire careers. They probably stockpile their best ones for singles. Lady GaGa just writes them with abandon, like they’re an unlimited natural resource. My favorite song is “Bloody Mary.” It’s as relentless as she is.
