Kings of Leon has been around for years and has four great albums. I only discovered them a few months ago but already they are one of my favorite music artists. Though they fall a little short, they are a decent example that independence in the creative process, rather than merely catering to a demographic, can lead to huge success.

I’m an art lover who takes art very seriously, seeing it as a psychological need as important as food is a physical need. I listen to music. I watch TV shows. I see most movies. I don’t read much (which is ironic, since I’m primarily a writer), but if I did I’m sure I’d find the same kind of products in the literary market that I find everywhere else: crap and imitation crap — and I’m sick of it.
